Amazon primed to harvest fresh deliveries

Amazon is increasing its online grocery service as it looks to serve millions of customers across the UK by the end of the year.
Amazon Fresh currently offers deliveries for Amazon Prime subscribers in London and selected neighbouring areas with a same of next-day service.
The service, which includes fresh, chilled and frozen food, is now free to subscribers in covered areas for orders over £40 with around 40 postcodes in Surrey trialling deliveries by midnight for orders received before 9pm.
And Amazon said is aims to increase the service to "multiple cities: by the end of 2020.
Amazon Fresh UK country manager Russell Jones told the BBC: ""Grocery delivery is one of the fastest growing businesses at Amazon and we think this will be one of the most-loved Prime benefits in the UK.
"We've been planning this for a long time. It's a big step up in volume.
"In the early days of lockdown all our capacity was being used. We're confident that we can launch this service now at this point in time."
Amazon Fresh was launched in 2016 and according to market research firm Mintel, Amazon Prime has 15 million subscribers in the UK.
