Amazon opens first UK cashier-less store

E-commerce giant Amazon has opened its first physical store outside of the US, in London.
Located in Ealing and named Amazon Fresh, the shop allows customers to enter, pick up the products they wish to purchase and walk out again without having to use any form of checkout.
Instead, the items they have picked up appear on a virtual receipt linked the the customer's Amazon account.
Around 2,500 sq ft in size, the store will also serve as a place for the brand's shoppers to collect and return goods they have bought online.
The new Amazon Fresh store concept utilises the same scales, shelf cameras and sensor technology as the firm's 20 Amazon Go shops in the US.
Amazon also launched smart shopping carts in its US shops last year, which track goods that are added to a cart and automatically bills customers once they remove their bags.
It also has plans to launch an 'by Amazon' brand, which will sell its own brand food products to complete with other grocery chains.
