Amazon offers new warehouse staff £1,000

Online retail giant Amazon is offering new warehouse staff a signing on bonus of £1,000.

It's the latest company to offer an incentive in the battle to recruit workers in a job market which is seeing record numbers of vacancies.

Supermarket chain Tesco previously offered lorry drivers a £1,000 joining bonus.

Amazon is offering its jobs at warehouses across the country where the staff shortage is most acute.

In addition to the joining bonus, it offers wages of £11.10 per hour, rising to £22.20 an hour for overtime.

Recruits need to sign up before 18th September to qualify. The roles are offered for 'immediate starts with no experience needed'.
