Amazon: Big sales rise, but tariff uncertainty ahead

Online retail giant Amazon has warned it might not hit market forecasts on its operating income, as it fears President Trump's tariffs will hit operations.

The business saw sales increase by 13.3% to £126.9bn, surpassing Wall Street sales expectations on revenues, as reported by Retail Gazette.

Amazon Web Services revenues hit £23.4bn - a 17.5% year on year increase.

But Amazon faces uncertainty around Trump's tariffs and how they will affect its reliance on companies around the world for its ecommerce business.

The company has also been heavily spending on AI, which it said will put it in a strong position in the long term.

Amazon currently has more than a million robots globally, including wheeled transporters and mechanical arms, with robots set to outnumber human workers in its warehouses.
