New nightclub for Gloucester

An application for a late-night drinks licence has been received by Gloucester City Council which could see a once popular former nightclub re-opened.

Swindon-based Altlanco Limited is behind the application which it is believed could see the night-club chain Tree move into the city.

Tree has already spread from its roots from Swindon to a spot on Bath Road in Cheltenham, which opened in September.

And now it looks like the brand is branching out again and heading for the former H2O bar on the city's legendary night-light hot spot that is Eastgate Street - which already boasts a collection of bars, pubs and clubs.

Altlanco Limited has applied for a licence to sell alcohol from 8am to 3am and to show films, indoor sports events, live music, to play recorded music and cater for dance performances.

H2O closed unexpectedly earlier this year after 20 years as a venue in the city.
