A 'reborn' Cheltenham-based alt pop artist is hoping to take his music career to a new level by releasing his new single today (Friday).

Thirty-year-old Beux Levi has released 'About Me' and the track has already been exclusively played three times on BBC Radio in the lead-up to the official single release.

Beux, whose real name is Seb Sanders, has previously toured the world with a Canadian band, but now living back in his hometown, he's hoping the new single will really launch his career.

Beux chatted to Punchline editor Mark Owen about his career to date and his hopes for the future as a solo artist.

He said: "I live in Bishops Cleeve now but I grew up in Hatherley and went to Bourneside School. Music has been around me forever and has always been a part of my life. 

"Since I was a teenager I was playing guitar in my room and doing covers and I actually moved to Canada to join a band and we were playing in a pop-rock band that toured all around the world.

"I've been doing session music for a few years now either writing music for other people or doing vocals and before that I was doing odd jobs here and there.

"This is a new way of doing it and a new venture. I actually wrote 'About Me' a couple of years ago. I wrote it all in one day and finished it a couple of months later because BBC Gloucestershire wanted to play a song so I rushed it in a day and it was finishes nd here were are two years later and I'm finally going to release it as an actual single so I'm really excited to actually have it out.

"It's probably more of an emotional storytelling thing. I've also got a music video which was shot in London. I just want people to listen to the music, see the video and think 'wow this is something serious - this is a professional'.

"There's distribution companies - you just upload it and it If you did it independently it will go to all the stores like Spotify and Itunes and it's released on the day. There's lots of advertising and behind-the-scenes work to get as good a response on the day as you can.

Following up on his intro track Square 001, About Me is the song that sets the tone for this artist and what he is about to bring to the alt pop scene.

"I think it's a great song but I don't think it's necessarily the one that breaks through - artists don't usually break through until they have 30 or 40 songs out."
