Ahoy there: Don't forget to use your pieces of eight to buy Tall Ships Festival tickets

Whether you're a seafarer or a landlubber, there's plenty to enjoy at the Gloucester Tall Ships and Adventure Festival.

The award-winning event drops anchor in Gloucester on Saturday, May 25 for three days of fantastic entertainment for the all the family spread over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Glorious tall ships such as the Grayhound, TS Royalist and the Matthew will grace the waterfront as pirate shows and living history re-enactments bring a slice of life on the open waves to the city.

As well as a celebration of maritime heritage, this year's festival will be brought bang up to date with superhero-style Gravity Jet Suit displays, the Industry Pro Wakeboarders and much more.

For the first time, there is even the chance to have a go on an incredible 1,000-ft-long zip wire across Gloucester Docks.

Jason Smith, chief executive of festival organisers Marketing Gloucester, said: "We are delighted to bring the new attractions to the festival including the amazing Gravity Jet Suit and the zip wire.

"It will add another dimension to what is already shaping up to be our biggest and best yet Gloucester Tall Ships event with so much to see and do for all the family."

For those who prefer their entertainment on dry land, there is still plenty to do for all ages.

Children and big kids alike can have a go at giant battle ships, a mobile surfing simulator and BMX or they could try their hand at climbing and caving.

There will also be fantastic food, drink and shopping stalls on offer throughout the weekend.

All this and plenty of live music will be taking place all over the three days including performances as part of the Gloucester Sea Shanty Festival.

On the Saturday, schoolchildren and other local performers will also be taking to stages across the festival as part of a one-day event in partnership with the prestigious Water City Music and Gloucester Academy of Music.

The festival runs from Saturday May 25 to Bank Holiday Monday, May 27.

Standard tickets for the festival are £10 for adults with accompanying children under-12 free with every ticket purchased. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here
