Adventurer inspires Gloucestershire firm

Charlie Walker, an adventurer, writer, photographer and motivational speaker from Wiltshire, has been motivating staff at a Stroud firm with a thought-provoking account of his longest expedition - a 43,000 mile bicycle journey.

Staff at Heber, an electronic control systems manufacturer, were inspired by Charlie's bike ride, which took in the furthest cape in each of Europe, Asia and Africa before returning home. Charlie travelled through 60 countries, encountered extremes of weather and experienced remoteness and physical exhaustion for the four and a half years he was away. The twists and turns of his journey presented him with challenges he had never dreamed of facing but, through introspection and perseverance, he overcame them and completed the journey.

Les Ashton, managing director, said: "It was a real pleasure to have Charlie Walker visit us at Heber and we were delighted to learn so much about his incredible adventures. Learning how Charlie overcame the obstacles along his journey and his dedicated mindset and commitment certainly provided us with food for thought and a positive approach to our own working lives."
