Gloucester road to close for 16 nights
By Bethany Winter | 20th July 2023
The A430 Secunda Way in Gloucester will be closed for 16 nights in August and September to resurface the road.

The resurfacing will start on Monday, August 21, and finish on Tuesday, September 12. Closures will be in place from 7pm to 7am but the road will not be closed on weekends and bank holidays.
Drivers will need to proceed with caution outside of the work hours as there will be a temporary surface.
For safety reasons there will be no vehicle access through the work site, with the exception of the emergency services, but pedestrian access will be maintained.
A 1,900-metre stretch of the A430 Secunda Way between the Hempsted Lane Roundabout and the Netheridge Swing Bridge will be resurfaced. More than 2,700 tonnes of material will be used, and a diversion route will be in place.
The resurfacing work is part of the county council's commitment to invest a further £100 million into the county's roads.
Cllr Dom Morris, cabinet member for highways at Gloucestershire County Council, said: "As part of our £100million investment into the highways network, we are continuing to invest in our local roads and keep our county moving. This resurfacing work will help to improve the quality of an important route in Gloucester.
"These essential improvements will create a smooth journey for all road users, and I would like to thank residents and businesses for their patience while this work is carried out."
Cllr Pam Tracey, county councillor for Hempsted and Westgate, said: "I'm pleased this route will be resurfaced as it will have a significant benefit for the local community.
"I know it will cause some inconvenience, but our crews will carry out the resurfacing overnight and as quickly as possible. I'd like to thank local residents and all road users for their understanding while the work takes place."
