A new face at Cotswold Riding for the Disabled
By David Wood | 6th October 2021
Cotswold Riding for the Disabled is delighted to announce the appointment of a new general manager - Lesley Gorton.
Lesley has worked in the charity sector for the last 20 years and has experience in running charities, fundraising, events and latterly in charity retail.
Lesley started with Cotswold RDA on October 1st and will work alongside former general manager Claire Jenkins for a month. She will be formally introduced at the Cotswold RDA AGM on October 20th at 7pm at Cheltenham Racecourse.
Duncan Smith, chair of the trustees, said: "Cotswold RDA is in a good position at present, and far stronger than when Claire took the role six years ago.
"This is a testament not only to the hard work and dedication of Claire, but also the way that the staff, coaches, volunteers, supporters, funders and trustees have pulled together.
"We are really excited about the prospects for Team Cotswold under Lesley's guidance and leadership."
Mr Smith added: "Cotswold Riding for the Disabled is so much more than a riding school. We have created a community of people who come together to ride ponies, or to enable others to ride. We know that contact with ponies offers excellent therapy to both young and old, living with any kind of disability.
"We can see and measure the benefits to those who ride with us, both in terms of physical and mental health and well-being. Not to mention the fun!"
There's a chance to join Cotswold RDA as a member and enjoy many member benefits. Did you know it is shortly opening a new shop on Tewkesbury High Street? It is happy to accept your donations of pre-loved items prior to opening.
You can sponsor a pony and give the gift of riding to a disabled adult or child.
