1200 jobs at risk as salon chain goes into administration

One of Britain's biggest chains of hair salons has called in administrators, putting 1,200 jobs at risk.

Regis UK has 220 salons and trades under the Regis and Supercuts brands in the UK, as reported by Sky.

While the future of the salons, including Supercuts in Gloucester and Regis in Cheltenham, hangs in the balance, industry sources say they expect a buyer for the chain to be found.

In the meantime, no Supercuts or Regis salons are being closed, while administrator Deloitte explores options for the business.

Deloitte has been appointed as administrator ahead of a legal challenge to Regis UK's Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA), which would have seen dramatic cuts in rent at many of its sites, including cuts of up to 100 per cent at 100 salons.

Late last year, landlords including British Land and Hammerson filed an appeal to challenge Regis's CVA in the courts.
