£1,000 reward for information on deliberate Cheltenham fires

Crimestoppers Gloucestershire are offering a reward of up to £1,000 for anonymous information on a series of arson incidents in Cheltenham.

The first fire occurred at around 8.20pm to 8.30pm on March 30, 2021. A leylandii hedge burned down, causing damage to a nearby garage on Broad Oak Way, Up Hatherley.

Two days later another hedge fire occurred on Kidnappers' Lane, Leckhampton. It is believed that these two incidents may be linked.

Other fires include skips being set alight at St Edwards School in Charlton Kings and bins at the Morrisons Supermarket, Caernarvon Way, Up Hatherley, on April 4.

Emily van der Lely, Crimestoppers Gloucestershire Manager said: "The risk to life from these reckless and irresponsible attacks means we urgently need anyone with information to come forward anonymously before someone is seriously hurt. These fires have caused distress and concern and they need to stop. Our charity receives and passes on anonymous information, which helps to keep communities safe from harm.

"We believe that people in the local community know or suspect who is behind these fires, so we are appealing for them to do the right thing and to contact Crimestoppers 100% anonymously. Since our charity began in the late 1980s, we have kept our cast-iron guarantee of anonymity to the thousands of people who contact us every single day.

"Please make a difference by telling us what you know completely anonymously, no matter how small you think that information is, by calling our UK Contact Centre, open 24/7, on freephone 0800 555 111 or by completing our simple and secure anonymous online form.

"We know it can be difficult to speak up about crime, especially if it's about someone you know. Please remember, your information could save lives and stop others from facing distress and harm."

The offer is not 'per incident' - the maximum total sum is capped at £1,000.
