What car do you drive: make, model, year, engine size, petrol/diesel/hybrid, optional extras?

VW TIGUAN EST 2.0TDI BMTN TEC SE 5DR, 2012, Diesel

What, if any, modifications have you or previous owner made to it?

No modifications

Do you let anyone else drive it?

My partner drives it on occasion – comes in handy if I want a beer.

How long have you had it?

A week! – the previous one 3 years

What did it replace?

It replaced a 2009, VW TIGUAN 5DR 2.0TDI 140SE

What attracted you to it?

I initially got the first one because it was larger than a normal car, which also meant it had a larger luggage area as the rear seats folded down. I needed it at the time to transport my daughter’s kit to and from University - in one hit.

The reason I upgraded to the current model is because it has been updated with all the extras as standard and there are loads lots of technological advances. In my opinion it becomes a better vehicle with all the gadgets.

What are its best qualities?

With regards to the old one, it’s spacious, good handling & economic – I’m sure the new one will be the same but with all the extras that were not on the previous one it should be better.

What are its worst?

It’s not a sports car!

Has it ever let you down?

No, and hopefully this newer version won’t either

What sort of mileage do you clock up every week/year?

Approx 14K a year

What is the ratio of business to private mileage?

20/80 in favour of private

What is your commute to work?

About 5 miles each way – however the school run is normally undertaken first adding a further 10 miles.

Would you buy another of this model/marque?

Yes, it has proven to be reliable. On the other hand, this is my second one so I may be looking to change after the next three years but this would be just to try something different.

If cost was not an issue, what would be your dream car and why?

If money was not an issue it would have to be an Aston Martin DB9. Probably the best looking car ever, Style, status & sexy. Not practical for a family motor, but then it is a dream!

If not the DB9 then the new BMW I concept (which may never come into the public arena) for all the same reasons.
