Tickets go on sale for Cheltenham Music Festival

Tickets have gone on sale for Cheltenham Music Festival which features dazzlingly talented artists and musical experiences for all the family.

Meurig Bowen is delivering a stellar Festival to mark his 10th anniversary as director including chamber concerts in the Pump Room, choral music raising the rafters of Tewkesbury Abbey and Gloucester Cathedral and family experiences, from relaxed events for toddlers to virtual reality orchestras on the High Street.

The programme includes an appearance from Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel on July 6; the CBSO with their new Music Director, 30-year-old Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla on July 5, anniversary Monteverdi from I Fagiolini on July 9; New English Ballet Theatre at the Everyman on July 16; Vaughan Williams' Sea Symphony in Gloucester Cathedral on July 8 and celebrates 70 years of the Hallé in Cheltenham on July 15.

Star soloists include violinist Tasmin Little on July 14 and baritone Roderick Williams who performs with The Halle on July 15.

Chapel Arts is an exciting new arts space on the Cheltenham scene and the Music Festival has programmed a whole fortnight's worth of innovative ways to use it, including The Bear and the Piano children's event on July 9 and BBC Young Musician 2016 winner, cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason performing on July 11.

The brand-new Rush Hour series showcases recent finalists and winners of the BBC Young Musician competition, which in recent years has featured Meurig Bowen among the distinguished judges.

Tickets go on sale to the public on Wednesday, April 5 at 1pm.
