First acts announced for Witcombe Cider Festival

Where: Painswick Road, Brockworth

When: August 26 to 27, 2017

Witcombe Cider Festival is back for another year with a line-up featuring the cream of British urban talent.

London-based artist Wiley will be bringing his award-winning, legendary sounds to Witcombe on Saturday, August 26.

Following on from Lethal Bizzle and Tinchy Stryder in previous years, Wiley rose to fame as a grime MC both for his solo work and for material released with his crew, Roll Deep.

The rapper, songwriter, musician and record producer has continued to make grime music while also releasing mainstream singles such as Wearing My Rolex, Never Be Your Woman and his UK number-one Heatwave.

Also performing on Saturday are duo Phats & Small who had an international hit with Turn Around, as well as a Daft Punk tribute, Quigley, Revolvers and Oas-is.

The following night on Sunday, August 27, Example will headline. Renowned for his live sets and performances at huge festivals such as Glastonbury and V Fest, the Example and DJ Wire headline set at Witcombe will feature no 1 singles Changed The Way You Kissed Me and Stay Awake.

Other acts performing on Sunday include Duke, Tommy & The Fuse and The Novatones.

Witcombe Cider Festival takes place just outside Gloucester, in Brockworth, and has grown from strength to strength since starting in 2012 with 200 cider and music fans at Witcombe Cricket Club.

Founder Joe Pointon says: "Witcombe Cider Festival is a family-run event with a simple ambition to provide a good time for everyone.

"It's about getting the mixture of music, entertainment, festival facilities, family, friends and fun. Our aim is to create a festival experience with great music and great ciders and making August Bank Holiday weekend something we can all really look forward to."

As well as music across the weekend there will be a funfair, circus skills, food village and a selection of bars. Rugby For Heroes are once again on board and will be on site in the Rugby For Heroes Zone.

Early bird tickets for Witcombe Cider Festival are on sale now and cost £25 for a day ticket and £40 for the weekend.
