Be prepared: Worn bridge set to undergo essential work

Motorists are advised that road diversions will be in place while repairs are carried out to a damaged bridge.

Four days of essential work on Dudbridge Lock bridge in Stroud will begin on Monday, 10 April to replace worn bridge joints.

The repairs will take place during school holidays when traffic flows are quieter.

A diversion route will be in place for the duration of the work.

Drivers travelling from Dudbridge Hill should continue on to A46 Bath Road, then left on to Cainscross Road, and vice versa.

Scott Tompkins, Gloucestershire County Council's lead commissioner for highways, said: "This work is an important part of our duty to residents and businesses in Stroud - it is crucial for this bridge to be well maintained.

"The county council would like to thank drivers for their patience ahead of any short-term disruption while this essential work is carried out."
