Which business has finished top of a consumer survey?

A Gloucester-based company has been named the most trusted home insurer for the second year running.

Ecclesiastical Insurance, based in Brunswick Road, has been ranked first in the Fairer Finance Spring 2017 Home Insurance table.

The specialist insurer topped the charts overall and was also ranked first in the categories of customer happiness and customer trust.

Ecclesiastical has now held the top spot for two years running and has increased its overall score to 71 per cent - five per cent higher than the nearest competitor.

The independent consumer group surveys thousands of UK banking and insurance customers twice a year, asking them to rate how satisfied they are with their bank or insurance company in four key areas; happiness, trust, complaints handling and transparency.

Ecclesiastical has the highest overall ranking in the home insurance category, sitting above 48 other insurers, including well-known names such as Aviva, John Lewis, Hiscox and NFU Mutual.

John Blundell (pictured), managing director for Ecclesiastical's UK general insurance business, said: "I am delighted that Ecclesiastical has retained its top ranking in the Fairer Finance Home Insurance tables.

"What is even more pleasing to see is such high scores in the 'customer trust' category.

"Ecclesiastical is a different kind of business, we are owned by a charity and the values that come with that ownership model permeate through the entire business.

"We set out to be the most trusted financial services group in all of our markets, so it is absolutely fantastic to see that our customers believe they can trust us to do the right thing when it comes to insuring their homes."
