What's On: Castle comes alive for Victorian May Day

Where: Sudeley Castle, Winchcombe

When: Monday, May 1, 2017

Go back in time to celebrate May Day this weekend as Sudeley Castle steps into the Victorian era.

On Bank Holiday Monday the castle will come alive with festivities for its annual Victorian May Day.

Visitors will be able to enjoy entertainment including Punch and Judy shows, Victorian Street Theatre, a variety of traditional side shows including a fortune teller and, new for this year, an interactive outdoor circus with a skilled equestrian display, jugglers, stilt-walkers and an aerial act.

There is also a pheasantry within the grounds, adventure playground with picnic area, gift shop and café in the banqueting hall.

Sian Jocelyn, visitor services manager, said: "Our annual Victorian May Day is back by popular demand and is set to be bigger and better than ever before.

"Our May Day event is always a particular favourite for many of our guests, and we are looking forward to seeing lots of happy faces at this year's celebrations."

The event is included in the price of a general admission ticket, £14.95 for adults and £6 for five to 15-year-olds, or with a 12-month pass. Under-fives go free.

The event will run from 10am-4pm on Monday and tickets can be booked online at www.sudeleycastle.co.uk
