Support gathers pace for city's 10K race
8th May 2017
This year's Gloucester 10K race is set to be more successful than ever.
The popular event, supported by solicitors, Davies and Partners, has now reached its capacity with 825 runners signed up and a waiting list.
And builders EG Carter and Co Ltd have agreed to be headline sponsors for the 10K race which takes place on Sunday, 9 July.
Nigel Tillott, Davies and Partners director, said: "I can't believe that we are now looking at the fourth running of the Gloucester 10k. It has only been possible due to the great support of the Gloucester and surrounding communities and authorities who have backed the idea and supported the race brilliantly.
"I should say that the local support for the event has been phenomenal. There are over 100 Kingsway runners entered and the number of Hucclecote Harriers registered is not far behind.
"The event has now reached its capacity with 825 runners signed up and a healthy waiting list. In this respect we are not able to issue refunds, but if a runner does find that they cannot run for some reason we would ask them to let us know in order that we can offer the place to someone else.
"The confines of the course mean that for health and safety reasons we are not able to raise the capacity to cope with demands."
This year the event supports two main charities, Gloucestershire Young Carers and Gloucestershire Night Stop.
Organisers are on the lookout for volunteers to support the event which takes in all the city's main landmarks and finishes in Gloucester Park.
