Senior appointments at Prima Dental drive further growth

Leading Gloucestershire manufacturer Prima Dental has made two senior appointments at its UK base in Gloucester to help drive further expansion.

The company manufactures and exports dental drills and quality dental products to over 90 countries from its facility at Waterwells Business Park in Quedgeley.

Martin Sanderson joins Prima Dental as head of operations and will help manage the company's continued expansion as it increases output and responds to growing global demand for its product.

Martin brings over twenty years of management and manufacturing experience to the role at Prima Dental. He previously held senior operations roles at Kerry Group and Hovis and has considerable experience delivering continuous improvement and managing quality assurance programmes in manufacturing.

Martin said: "I'm delighted to be joining the company and look forward to helping to build and facilitate further expansion. There are huge opportunities ahead as we tap into new geographical and product markets and I have been struck by the very positive culture and great team spirit across the company."

Dr Marilyn Goh has been appointed as the company's head of research and innovation, a new post to spearhead new technology and product development.

Marilyn joins with seven years of research and lecturing experience in manufacturing and engineering at the University of Sheffield and University of the West of England (UWE). She has also spent five years working in manufacturing in the tooling and carbide industry for companies including Airbus and Sandvik Group.

Marilyn said: "Prima Dental is a world-leading and innovative manufacturer in its sector and has such exciting potential. There is a really sense of energy in the company and I am thrilled to be able to play a key role as we move forward with new innovations and product launches for markets around the world."

Prima Dental has an expanding team of 210 staff at its Quedgeley base and is the world's fastest growing carbide bur (dental drill) manufacturer, exporting 30 million units per year to 90 countries.

Richard Muller, group managing director at Prima Dental comments on the appointments: "We are really delighted to welcome Marilyn and Martin on board. They both bring relevant and specialist skills and knowledge to the team here in Gloucester and will play vital roles in our expansion programme."

Within the past three years the company has launched a sales and distribution channel in India and created a joint venture company in Brazil, becoming the first manufacturer of dental burs in South America. A £5million investment programme at Prima Dental's base in Gloucester was also completed last year to pave the way for a forty per cent increase in output.
