Plans for new store heading for judicial review
17th March 2017
A decision to grant planning permission for a new supermarket store in Gloucestershire is facing a legal challenge.
Midcounties Co-operative Limited has been given the go-ahead to challenge Forest of Dean District Council's decision to grant permission for an Aldi store in Coleford.
The council received notification that Midcounties Co-operative has been given permission to judicially review the planning decision for the erection of a class A1 food store at Land at Tufthorn Avenue following a court hearing.
The Judicial Review hearing will take place on Tuesday, 20 June at a court venue to be confirmed in due course.
The decision came at the same time as the council received notification that Midcounties Co-operative had also been given the go-ahead to challenge the decision to grant planning permission for a retail store at Steam Mills, Cinderford.
Council leader Cllr Patrick Molyneux said: "We are obviously disappointed that Midcounties Co-operative has decided to challenge the permissions, but we remain confident with the decisions made and will continue to robustly defend our position."
