New 'Superlab' on its way

Plans have been submitted to build new science facilities at a school in Gloucestershire.

Bournside School in Cheltenham, which became an academy in May 2011, wants to increase the size of its science block and build a 'Superlab'.

The plans, submitted by architectural company Roberts Limbrick, features a single-storey extension that would provide 13 full sized classrooms that would serve as the new science block.

In the planning application, it says the school wants to improve the standard of teaching accommodation that is available on the site.

The new 'Superlab' would support the new science black and the school believes that it would allow them to modernish their teaching of science.

The new 'L' block would also contain a large student toilet block, staff/student work space and associated corridors and stores, all with natural daylight.

Previously this area of land was used as temporary accommodation, and following the demolition it has been left unused.

Bournside School hopes that by starting with the 'L' block, they will soon be able to continue the refurbishment of some of the older block as funding comes available over coming years.

Located approximately two miles from Cheltenham Town Centre on Warden Hill Road, Bournside School is surrounded my residential properties.
