New home for ethical bookseller
3rd May 2017
An ethical online bookseller, which ships thousands of books abroad every year, has moved to a larger home in Gloucester.
Reuseabook aims to prevent any book ever ending up in landfill. The company collects tens of thousands of books from charity shops and sells them online. Started in Stroud on a kitchen table in 2008 by husband and wife Ami Baker and Rob Hollier, it has doubled its turnover every year.
Reuseabook now employs 35 people and ships thousands of books all over the world. Ami and Rob are proud that their business is both ethical and profitable, as well as providing an income for charity shops.
Now the company has taken a 10-year lease on a 75,000 sq ft warehouse at Mill Place from developer Robert Hitchins Ltd. The new site off Bristol Road is two-and-a-half times the size of its previous home in Thrupp.
The move to Mill Place meant shifting 260 tons of books in 18 articulated lorry trips and 105 van journeys with 20 removal people over eight days.
During this time, they continued to keep the business running, processing 10 tons of books per day collected from charity shops and posting 2,500 books a day to more than 100 countries.
Ami Baker, managing director, said: "It's fantastic to have so much space, not just for the books but for our office team. It gives us lots of opportunity to expand in the future."
Here at Punchline we wish Reuseabook every success for the future in their new premises. The ethical company is a real Gloucestershire success story.
