My work experience week at Moose Marketing

This last week, instead of hopping on a bus to get to school, I have joined the many daily commuters, and have been spending a week in work experience with Moose Marketing and PR, publishers of Punchline.

I started off the week a little apprehensive about what to expect and wondering if I would just spend the next five days sat around making cups of tea and doing the rejected jobs. However, I couldn't have been more wrong.

On arrival I was greeted by managing director Mark Owen and was instantly allocated my own desk and informed about what my role would be within the company for the rest of the week. As my first day rolled on I was introduced to the rest of the staff and was really made to feel at ease within the workplace.

I have felt a valued member of the team this week and have learnt a lot whilst being given relevant jobs to do. For example I have: spent time taking photos in order to be used in future articles, been shown how to add Punchline articles to the website and even been allowed to write and upload my own, as well as creating data spreadsheets to be used for future articles. This still is just a mere snapshot of the many different tasks I have been doing, all of which I have felt have had a genuine use and purpose for the company.

This week has been very insightful to me as I had no previous knowledge of marketing or how a marketing company functions. I have gained real experience and am able to come away feeling that I have spent a really productive and valuable week at Moose.

I would greatly encourage other companies that offer up the opportunity, such as the one Moose have given to me, and take in younger people to experience their industry, as it can be incredibly helpful when trying to decide on a potential future career.
