Lorry fire causes busy Gloucestershire commuter route to be closed

A lorry fire caused road closures and lengthy delays on one of Gloucestershire's main roads on Thursday morning.

Police were called to the A417 at around 4am this morning after a report of a lorry being on fire.

The road was closed in both directions and early morning commuters were being advised to take alternative routes with the road closed.

The A417was closed in both directions between Daglingworth and the Cowley Roundabout for around two hours.

At approximately 6.30am the southbound carriageway reopened and one lane of the northbound carriageway was also opened to traffic.
