Up to 400 jobs at risk at Boots

The pharmacy and beauty products group Boots is set to close 220 of its 320 in-store photo labs nationally.

It means up to 400 jobs are under threat although the company says it hopes to lessen the impact with redeployment and retraining.

Boots said the decision was made as digital photography continues to dominate the market and traditional photo printing is on the decline, Sky News reports.

The company plans to keep traditional photo services at its remaining 100 labs, as well as operating 3,000 instant photo kiosks at 1,000 of its stores.

It is now easier than ever to print out photographs at customer operated facilities in stores such as Tesco and Asda.
