Gloucestershire giant named as key supplier to ground-breaking research centre

A Gloucestershire-based manufacturer of motion control products has announced a significant agreement with a historic university.

Moog, which has a centre at Ashchurch Industrial Estate in Tewkesbury, has been chosen by the Technical University of Denmark as its prime supplier of test equipment and services for its large scale test facility.

The facility at the university, founded in 1829, is purpose-built for static and dynamic tests of wind turbine blades.

The Moog system is an integral part of the university's plan to establish a unique research facility that meets the highest international standards and will enable it to develop and provide advanced testing methods and research about the strength and fatigue behaviour of large structures when exposed to representative complex loading.

Moog, which developed and installed the retractable roof at Wimbledon's Centre Court, will be supplying a complete turnkey test system.

It will include hydraulic actuation, closed-loop servo control, hydraulic power and distribution pipe work system, project management, design and modelling, installation and commissioning services backed with long term service and support.

Kim Branner, head of the structural design and testing team at the university, said: "We chose Moog as our equipment provider because its engineering and sales teams were very diligent throughout the tender process to deliver the best technical solution within budget.

"This dedication continued during the design phase and has provided DTU with a strong foundation for long term collaboration with Moog."
