Be prepared: important road will be closed for resurfacing

Motorists have been warned of road closures along a popular route in Gloucestershire.

The A429 Fosseway will be resurfaced from 19-30 June, but the scheme will be carried out in two phases in an attempt to minimise disruption, Gloucestershire County Council has announced.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood, said: "We're identifying routes for immediate resurfacing action, helping as many residents benefit from the investment as quickly as possible.

"This important section of road has been flagged as a target as it connects drivers in Cirencester, Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh with the A429, meaning that soon, these residents will benefit from a smoother, pothole-free journey.

"I want to thank all road users in advance for bearing with us while we work towards a brand new surface on this section of road."

From 19-28 June, an eight-day closure will be in place for phase one of the work.

This will take place on a section south of the Hare and Hounds pub at the Fossecross junction.

On 29-30 June, the second phase will see a section north of the Fossecross junction closed for two days.

To enable the resurfacing to be completed as quickly as possible, the closures will be in place from 7.30am to 5.30pm each day, except for weekends, and diversions will be signposted.
