Tickets for 2017 Gloucester Tall Ships Festival on 27-29 May are proving popular

Tickets for the 2017 Gloucester Tall Ships Festival are being pursued like stashes of buried treasure as the award-winning event shapes up to be the best ever this year.

Access-all-areas wristbands are being snapped up by families looking to enjoy every minute of the spectacular three days at Gloucester Docks over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, 27-29 May.

Priced only £7 and valid for all three days of the festival, the wristbands provide entry to all the tall ships taking part, the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum and the National Waterways Museum.

Admission is free to under-12s accompanied by a paying adult, meaning it could cost a family of four just £14 to enjoy a fantastic weekend of attractions.

Jason Smith, CEO of event organisers Marketing Gloucester, said: "For only £7 for the whole three days, the access-all-areas wristbands are fantastic value for money and are certainly the best way to enjoy the festival.

"As well as stepping aboard the tall ships, wristband holders won't want to miss the wonderful exhibits and collections at the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum and the National Waterways Museum.

"And the great thing is, even though there will be lots to enjoy at the festival, if you purchase a wristband there's no need to worry about running out of time to see everything.

"Wristband holders can come along to the festival every day and visit the ships and the museums as many times as they like.

"It's a fantastic way for whole family to enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend."

The Tall Ships Festival, which takes place every two years, attracted record crowds of 120,000 in 2015 and scooped numerous accolades.

This year's festival will again feature lots of fun and excitement for all the family, including action-packed sword fighting displays featuring Captain Jack, live music and dancing, adventure stories from the High Seas, a vintage fairground, a flight simulator, a crazy golf course, and stalls selling a variety of food and drink.

Running alongside the Tall Ships Festival, the third Gloucester Shanty Festival will showcase a great line-up of around 30 nationally and internationally acclaimed acts performing at various venues around the city centre.

And as Gloucester Docks is one of the best preserved Victorian inland ports in the UK, wonderful characters from that famous era will be parading around in their old-fashioned but distinctive garb during the festival.

Advanced access-all-areas wristbands for the Gloucester Tall Ships Festival are available now from www.gloucestertallships.co.uk and from the Gloucester Tourist Information Centre from May 1.

Day passes costing £3, which will provide only access to the site, will be available online and at the Gloucester Tourist Information Centre from 3 May.
